Supporting the journey to independence
What is the Bedspace Trust?
The Bedspace Trust aims to, through the provision of housing and accommodation, provide relief to those in need. Often the individuals we work with are placed into vulnerable environments by no fault of their own. Whether it is their age, disability, financial hardship or due to being in or leaving local authority care including those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We also aim to provide support services relating to housing, benefits and transition to sustainable independent living.
WHO WILL WE SUPPORT?
Vulnerable young people aged 18 and over who are at risk of or are homeless, located in the North of England.
Our Purpose
The Bedspace Trust aims to stop the cycle of homelessness by offering a stable and consistent level of support. Over the last 4 years, we have spent upwards of £1.5 million supporting those Young People who are facing the ‘Post-18 Cliff Edge’. In doing so, we have been able to introduce a Post-18 Service dedicated to providing additional support to those Young People who need it most.
how?
By supporting young vulnerable adults with housing and wrap around care until they are ready to live independently.
Why?
To make sure everyone has an equal start in life, no matter their economic background.
"According, to the ONS the average age for a young person to move out of their family home is 23, demonstrating that for many young people 18 is far too soon to be living independently."
